Fancy taking your little one out for a dance?

Our Mum and Bub’s twelve-week program takes you and baby on a journey of bonding though fun, fancy footwork and fantastic music!

What styles are taught?

At Our Two Left Feet, you can expect to be taught LA Salsa and Bachata, which are partnered or solo latin style dances. Both styles bring their unique flavour to the dance floor. Salsa is often associated with vibrancy and excitement, while mainstream Bachata is smooth and slow. What style would you end up liking, I wonder? To find out more, click the button below!

Benefits of dancing with your baby!

Sensory Stimulation

Dancing with your baby on you is an audio, visual and physical experience all in one package! Who knew smiling faces, rhythmic steps, and latin music mixed together can provide such a positive environment for development.

Solidifying Bond

The first thing your baby hears is a heart beat and one of the first people they feel hold them is you. Whether you are wearing your baby dancing or not, the feeling of being held close and hearing your heart beat helps solidify your bond and connection. Add movement and music to the mix, and you are simulating the comfort they felt before they arrived in your arms.

Socialisation

You and your little one will be surrounded with other parents and their babies. It is an excellent opportunity for you to make new connections. In addition, exposure to other babies will allow them to learn how to interact with each other, even if it is just a glance, wink or a smile!

Strengthening Health

It is no secret that carrying a baby for multiple hours in the day is hard work. Now, include new dance moves while doing it and you have a recipe for a physical work out! Learning new dance moves is also great for building memory and cognitive strength as you are developing new neural pathways in your brain to help take in the new pattern of information.

Questions you might be asking yourself

  • Your baby needs to be at least 3 months of age before starting these classes. This is to ensure they have developed good neck strength to hold their head up while they are in the carrier dancing with you.

  • For now, 2:00pm on Friday. Subject to interest, more times may be made available.

  • This is a Parent thing. Mum and Bub is just a common name used to describe attending experiences wearing your little one. Salsa and Bachata are for both parents to learn! Whether you are a Mum and Bubs, a Dad and Bubs, or a Parent and Bubs, I would encourage everyone to attend.

  • Yes. As a matter of fact, I encourage it even more. Use this as an opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and try something new. The whole premise behind the name Our Two Left Feet is meant to tackle that age old saying, and reframe it to be a positive experience for you and your baby. Even if it is just for one class, you have captured a lesson to pass on to your little one. What that lesson is will be determined on your decision to leave after one or stay for more!

  • The only partner you need is your baby. The movements we teach are solo in nature, but can be applied in partner work later down the track.

Otherwise, you can take the one casual class to trial it out, and if you want to join, you can sign up for the next 4 week cycle and join then. For more details on pricing, click here.
